Partner Interview with Melissa Driesbach

Director of Strategic Sales and Partnerships at Prime Numbers Technology
I’m Melissa Driesbach, Director of Strategic Sales and Partnerships at Prime Numbers Technology. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across the corporate travel ecosystem—from the TMC side to travel technology and now travel data. That broad perspective helps me identify where travel programs break down operationally, where technology falls short, and where data can create meaningful improvements.
Prime Numbers Technology was founded in 2007 in Massachusetts. What makes our story unique is that we were born from client advisory boards rather than a boardroom. Travel managers and corporate leaders were frustrated by the lack of visibility into their travel spend, and that challenge became the foundation of our business.
Today, we provide a comprehensive travel data platform that consolidates TMC data, expense data, corporate card feeds, and supplier information into a single environment. We combine real-time reporting, predictive analytics, sourcing capabilities, and AI-powered insights to help organizations make smarter decisions.
What service does Prime provide and what key problem does it solve?
At its core, Prime helps travel management companies, agencies, and corporations transform fragmented travel data into actionable intelligence.
The biggest challenge in our industry is not a lack of data—it’s that data lives in silos. Travel data, expense data, corporate card data, and supplier information often exist separately, making it difficult to gain meaningful insights.
We consolidate those data sources and provide benchmarking, spend analytics, supplier performance analysis, policy compliance monitoring, and predictive insights. This allows organizations to move beyond static reporting and start making proactive, data-driven decisions.
We also provide tools that help TMCs create more strategic client conversations through automated reporting and presentation capabilities, enabling them to demonstrate value and uncover optimization opportunities.
Where does your service fit into the TMC workflow?
I like to describe the TMC workflow as having two distinct phases: the operational phase and the analytical phase.
The operational phase is where Midoco excels. This is where bookings are created and managed, invoices are processed, reconciliation takes place, permissions are controlled, and all the day-to-day activities required to run a travel management company happen. In many ways, Midoco serves as the system of record and the operational backbone of the organization.
Prime Numbers Technology enters the workflow once that operational data has been captured. We sit on top of those operational systems and transform raw data into meaningful business intelligence. Through our integration, booking, financial, and operational data flows automatically into our platform, where it is consolidated with other sources such as expense data, corporate card information, and supplier data.
This creates a single source of truth that enables TMCs and corporate travel teams to move beyond simply tracking transactions. Instead, they gain access to benchmarking, spend analytics, supplier performance metrics, traveler behavior insights, and policy compliance reporting.
What makes this particularly valuable is that it allows TMCs to have more strategic conversations with their clients. Rather than reporting on what happened last quarter, they can proactively identify opportunities to optimize travel programs, improve supplier negotiations, reduce costs, or enhance traveler experiences.
As the industry evolves, we see our role expanding even further. Through technologies such as MCP layers and agentic AI, travel data can be delivered directly into operational workflows and booking environments. Instead of analytics being something users review after the fact, insights can become available at the exact moment decisions are being made. That shift from retrospective reporting to real-time decision support is where we believe the industry is heading.
How do you integrate with Umbrella / Midoco, and what is the benefit for the client?
Our integration with Midoco is designed to be seamless and highly automated. Once the connection is established, data flows directly from Midoco into the Prime platform without requiring manual intervention from the TMC.
The easiest way to think about the relationship is that Midoco serves as the operational foundation, while Prime provides the intelligence layer built on top of that foundation. Midoco captures and manages the transactions, workflows, and operational processes, while Prime transforms that information into actionable insights.
Because the integration is already established, there is very little effort required from the TMC. Data is automatically collected, consolidated, cleansed, and enriched, allowing travel organizations to immediately benefit from advanced analytics and reporting capabilities.
For clients, the value goes far beyond reporting. They gain visibility into travel spend, supplier performance, booking trends, traveler behavior, policy compliance, and overall program health. This enables both TMCs and corporate travel teams to make faster and more informed decisions.
The integration also strengthens the consultative role of the TMC. Instead of relying solely on operational reporting, account managers can use Prime's benchmarking and analytics capabilities to provide strategic recommendations during client reviews, support supplier negotiations, and demonstrate measurable value to their customers.
Looking ahead, the integration becomes even more powerful when combined with AI and MCP technology. In the future, connected systems will be able to exchange information in real time, allowing insights generated from historical and operational data to influence traveler choices at the point of sale.
For example, if a corporate travel policy limits the number of executives who can travel on the same flight, connected systems could identify when that threshold has been reached and immediately present alternative options to the traveler during the booking process. Rather than generating a report after the event, the data becomes actionable in real time.
That is the vision we are working toward: an ecosystem where operational platforms like Midoco and intelligence platforms like Prime work together seamlessly to create smarter, faster, and more proactive travel management workflows.
Do you see any major challenges in the industry, and do we have the tools to solve them?
The industry is at a major inflection point. TMCs and agencies are facing rising costs, increasing traveler expectations, staffing challenges, fragmented technology environments, and now the rapid emergence of AI—all at the same time.
The good news is that technology is finally catching up to these challenges. AI, automation, better APIs, and connected platforms provide capabilities that simply did not exist a few years ago.
However, AI alone is not the solution. Success depends on how effectively organizations integrate these technologies into practical workflows that genuinely support agents, operations teams, and travelers.
At Prime, we believe the future lies in connected ecosystems where data, AI, and operational systems work together seamlessly. Data should not simply serve as a historical record—it should become an intelligent layer that actively helps organizations make better decisions in real time.
The companies that build strong data foundations today will be best positioned to succeed as AI continues to transform the travel industry.
